I Love the Smell of Tangerines in the Morning...
The hardest part of my 48-hour water fast wasn't hunger.
It was cutting up fruit for my two-year-old.
This was my third quarterly water fast of the year.
It was supposed to happen a few weeks earlier, but life got in the way.
Holiday weekends, Amanda's birthday, volunteer work... and if I'm being completely honest, my "keto prep" also included a couple of cocktails that almost certainly weren't keto friendly.
Not exactly textbook.
What surprised me most was how easy this one felt.
No brain fog. No lethargy. No overwhelming hunger.
At one point I honestly wondered if I'd somehow done it wrong.
I had cravings, absolutely, but I was never truly hungry.
The hardest part?
Cutting fresh tangerines and kiwis for Finnegan.
I'm convinced fruit has never smelled so incredible.
By the end of day two I even considered pushing on to my end-of-year goal of a three-day fast.
Instead, I decided I'd achieved exactly what I set out to do.
I broke the fast with homemade bone broth, followed by scrambled eggs cooked in grass-fed butter with avocado and tomatoes.
It was one of the best breakfasts I've had all year.
When I started doing these quarterly resets, the goal wasn't just for me.
It was to create a simple community experience that anyone curious could try.
It's free. It might even save you money.
And it's one of the most powerful ways I know to give your body a chance to reset.
The goal is autophagy, the body's own cellular housekeeping system.
A chance for your body to clean house.
The biggest surprise this time wasn't the fast itself. It was how I felt afterwards.
Even after just four hours of sleep, my energy felt vibrant, my focus clear, and my performance heightened.
And the nagging inflammation in my bicep tendon that had been bothering me for months had completely settled down.
I wasn't expecting that, but I'll happily take it.
I'm already looking forward to the next reset at the end of September.

The goal isn't suffering.
It's consistency.
